Service Fee: .10 cent per text message

1.                    What is this Facebook Text?
- With Facebook text you can use Facebook by using the text messaging feature on your phone.    
- You can text Facebook to update your status or send a poke on the go.
- You can also choose to receive texts with messages, pokes and Wall posts from your friends as they happen.

2.                    How does it work?
You will need to activate Facebook Mobile from your existing facebook WEB account. To do so:
- Go to the “Mobile Tab” in their “Account Settings”.
- Click on “Register for Facebook Text Messages”
- Select “Trinidad & Tobago” from country drop down
- Select “Digicel Trinidad & Tobago” from list of operators
- Enter 11 digit mobile number ( i.e. 1868xxxxxxx)
- Click on confirm
You will then receive a confirmation code in form of a text message which should then be entered in the section provided under the “Mobile Tab” in “Account Settings”.
 
3.                    What features are available with Facebook text?
- You will have the following functionality via Facebook Text Messages:
1) Update your status
2) Send messages
3) Search Facebook (e.g. for friends)
4) Get friends mobile numbers
5) Check on events
6) Write on friends walls
7) Add new friends
8) Subscribe to friends status updates

4.                   How do I access the features mentioned above from my mobile phone?
- Once you have registered for Facebook text from your Facebook WEB account you can send the assigned command* codes to 4BOOK (42665).

5.                   Is there a cost attached to use this service?
 
- Yes, the cost to use any of the feature highlighted in the above question is 10 cents per text message sent.

6.                   Is there a subscription fee attached to this service?
- No, there is no subscription fee to use the service

7.                   Am I charged for receiving alerts from Facebook?
- No. You are only charged for sending messages.
 
8.                    Are there key words to be used to update my status or use any of the other features of Facebook Text?
- Yes, there will be key words to use the service. *See question 4 above

9.                    Do I have to have access the internet on my phone to use Facebook text?
 
- No, to use this service you are sending a text message to the access code.

10.                Can a postpaid customer use the service?
- Yes, this service can be used by both prepaid and postpaid customers.

11.               Is this service available to Corporate Customers?
- Yes. The service is available to all Digicel customers.

12.               Can I unsubscribe from using this feature at anytime?
- Yes, customers can unsubscribe from this service by visiting the Mobile Tab in Account settings via the Facebook website.


TWITTER FAQS;

1.   What is twitter text?
- This service will allow you to send tweets (Twitter direct messages) via text messages. 
- You do not need internet access or a data connection on their handset to use the Twitter text service. 
- By sending a text to the short code 40404 you can update your Twitter status, communicate with your friends among other Twitter profile functions.

2.   What is the cost to send a message to the service number?
- The cost to send tweets will be .10 cents VAT Exl.

3.   How do I sign in?

- You can send a text with the word START to 40404 and you will receive a reply asking to sign up if you are a new subscriber, or reply with your user name if you have an existing account.
- If you have an existing account, reply with your user name. Twitter will ask to verify your password, and if it's correct, the first tweet will be posted and you will be notified!  (If you don't get a confirmation text right away, check your profile page to see if the tweet was added)

4.   What if I don’t have a Twitter account, how do sign up from my mobile?

- If you don't have an account, reply with SIGN UP.  You will be asked to choose a user name, and once Twitter receives it, you will be asked to text your first tweet!

5.   What else can I do from my mobile to twitter via text messages?

- You can use the commands below to send private messages, mark updates as favorites, or even remind someone to update their Twitter page if you're wondering what they're doing!
A) @username + message
- Directs a tweet at another person, and causes your tweet to save in their "replies" tab. Example: @meangrape I love that song too!
B) RT username
- Retweet's a users latest Tweet
C) D username + message
- Sends a person a private message that goes to their device, and saves in their web archive. Example: d krissy want to pick a Jamba Juice for me while you're there?
D) FAV username
- Marks a person's last twitter as a favorite and causes the message to show up in your "Favorites" tab.
E) SET LOCATION placename
- Updates the location field in your profile. Example: set location San Francisco 
F) WHOIS username
- Retrieves the profile information for any public user on Twitter. Example: whois jack
H) GET username
- Retrieves the latest Twitter update posted by the person. Example: get goldman
I) FAV username
- Marks a person's last twitter as a favorite. (hint: reply to any update with FAV to mark it as a favorite if you're receiving it in real time). Example: fav al3x
J) STATS
- This command returns your number of followers, how many people you're following, and your bio information.
K) INVITE phone number
- Will send an SMS invite to a friend's mobile phone. Example: Invite 415 555 1212

6.   Can I follow my friends using twitter text on my mobile device?
- Yes you can get updates sent to your handset.
- You can send “ON username” (your friend’s username that they use on Twitter) to 40404.
Example: ON tw33tastic
To turn it off you can send “OFF username” to 40404
Note: using on/off username from your phone only stops notifications to the place the command comes from; you'll still collect a person's updates on the web. Or they can visit the website and switch the alert for mobile devices on/ off.

7.   How many characters are allowed in a tweet?
- A tweet will only facilitate 140 characters

8.   Will I be able to update twitter text if the text messaging service is down?
- If SMS is not available, then Twitter SMS cannot be used.

9.   Can I invite someone from the other network using twitter text?
No you can only invite persons who are on the Digicel network.
 
10.   Am I charged for receiving alerts from twitter?
- No, you are not charged for receiving Twitter SMS alerts.

11.   Can I use this service number for any other social network such as Myspace/ Facebook?

- No, the service number provided can only be used for Twitter.
 
12.   How can I unsubscribe from receiving alerts from this service on my handset?
- Users can send any of the following to 40404:
OFF, STOP, QUIT, End, Cancel, Arret or Unsubscribe. Any of these will turn ALL phone notifications off.

 

Digicel Facebook Text Messaging Service – Terms & Conditions 

1.      Agreement
These terms and conditions shall govern the relationship between Digicel (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited (hereinafter referred to as “we”, “us”, “our” and “the Company”) and the user (hereinafter referred to as “you”, “your” “the Customer”) of the Digicel Facebook Text Messaging Service (hereinafter referred to as “the DFTM Service”) and shall constitute legal and binding obligations on the parties once you have requested the DFTM Service from your phone. These DFTM terms and conditions are supplementary to the Digicel Prepaid or Post-paid Terms and Conditions (“the Agreement”) (whichever is applicable to you) and for the purposes of these terms and conditions the DFTM Service shall be deemed to be part of the Service under the Agreement. Where any conflict arises between these terms and conditions and the Agreement with respect to the DFTM Service these terms and conditions shall prevail. We reserve the right to amend or unilaterally change the DFTM Service and/or these terms and conditions subject to notifying you of such amendments by way of advertisement in the national media, SMS/text messaging and/or our website. If the DFTM Service is used after such notice, then the amendment shall be deemed to have been accepted by you. These terms and conditions are governed by the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago.

2.      Service Description
DFTM allows Customers to use certain features of Facebook by sending designated Facebook commands (details set out in the Facebook Help Center under Mobile) via SMS on your Digicel mobile phone. These features include updating your Facebook status, sending messages to Facebook friends, searching Facebook (e.g. for friends), obtaining mobile number for Facebook friends, checking on events, writing on the walls of Facebook friends, adding new friends and  sending pokes. Customers may also choose to receive messages, pokes and wall posts from their friends via SMS as they are posted on Facebook.
 
3.      Subscription
The DFTM Service is available to all Digicel Customers by simply activating the Facebook Mobile Texts application from your Facebook account by following the procedure outlined below:
- select the ‘Account Settings’ tab
- select the ‘Mobile’ tab
- select ‘Register for Facebook Text Messages’
- select ‘Trinidad & Tobago’ from the country drop down menu
- select ‘Digicel Trinidad & Tobago’ from the list of operators
- Click “Next” and follow the instructions given to text the letter “f” to 42665 in order to obtain your confirmation code.
- you will then receive a confirmation code on your Digicel mobile phone via SMS which should be entered in the appropriate field under the ‘Mobile’ tab

4.      Service Charges
The service charge of $0.10 VAT exclusive per SMS shall apply. For avoidance of all doubt, if you access the Facebook website using the internet on your phone you will be charged at normal data rates, including data roaming rates when outside of Trinidad and Tobago. The aforementioned service charge of $0.10 VAT exclusive applies only to accessing Facebook via the SMS’s sent with the DFTM Service.

5.      Payment
Service Charges for the DFTM Service will be deducted from the Customer’s prepaid account balance or charged to their Post-paid account. If there is an insufficient credit balance on a Prepaid account, where a Post-paid account is not in good standing or where the unexpired credit limit on a Post-paid account would not cover the service charge then the DFTM Service will not be accessible.

6.      Customer Obligations
In addition to the obligations under the Agreement, you agree to:
A) abide by all these terms and conditions of use of the DFTM Service as outlined herein;
B) comply with laws and regulations governing the Digicel network and the DFTM Service;
C) utilize the DFTM Service for personal use only and not for commercial and/or business purposes; and
D) comply with all reasonable requests by us, or others on our behalf, particularly in relation to the investigation of fraud or other offences or as required by law or in legal proceedings. Should the Company deem it necessary to enforce its rights hereunder in any legal action you will reimburse the Company for all costs and expenses including reasonable attorney’s fees as a result of such legal action.

7.      Third Parties
The Customer understands that the DFTM Service is subject to the availability, proper functioning and operation of the Facebook webpage over which Digicel has no control over and as such:
A) The Customer agrees that Digicel shall not be held liable if the Facebook webpage is experiencing any interruption in service or becomes inaccessible or unavailable for any reason whatsoever; and
B) Digicel shall not be not responsible for any communications that fail or are jumbled, scrambled or delayed arising from the action or omissions of Facebook, its employees and/or agents.

 

Digicel Twitter Text Messaging Service – Terms & Conditions
 
1.      Agreement

DTTM allows Customers to use certain features of Twitter by sending SMS’s from their Digicel phone, including posting or updating tweets on their Twitter profile and following or being followed by other users on Twitter, by using the designated Twitter commands below from your Digicel mobile phone:
o   ON: turns on ALL phone notifications from Twitter users you are following at that time;
o   OFF, STOP, QUIT, END, CANCEL, ARREST or UNSUBSCRIBE: turns off ALL phone notifications from Twitter users you are following at that time;
o   ON username: turns on notifications for a specific Twitter user;
o   OFF username: turns off notifications for a specific Twitter user; 
o   FOLLOW username: allows you to start following a specific Twitter user as well as receive SMS notifications on tweets from that user;
o   LEAVE username: allows you to stop both following a specific Twitter user and receiving SMS notifications on tweets from that user.
You can also sign up for Twitter itself using the DTTM Service.

3.      Subscription
The DTTM Service is available to all Digicel Customers by simply texting the word “START” to the short code 40404.  You will then receive a reply via SMS requesting you either to sign up for Twitter if you are not already a Twitter account holder or to respond by sending your username for your existing Twitter account. In the latter case, you will then be asked to verify your password via SMS after which you shall then be able to begin using Twitter through the DTTM Service. For Customers now signing up with Twitter, you will be asked to send via SMS a username and then you will be able to begin using Twitter through the DTTM Service. For Customers who sign up for Twitter using the DTTM Service, in order to access your Twitter account online you will first be required to state your Digicel number in the form 1868XXXXXXX when you log onto the Twitter website. A password will be sent to you from Twitter via SMS on your Digicel phone. That password can then be used to access your Twitter account and should be changed when your first access your Twitter account online.
- Once you are subscribed to the DTTM Service you may also log onto your Twitter account to give instructions on following and leaving other Twitter users as well as receiving and sending tweets and notifications to and from other Twitter users subscribed to the DTTM Service.

4.      Service Charges
