THE TOBAGO INTERNATIONAL GAME FISHING TOURNAMENT TAKES IN A HUGE HAUL
The 2012 edition of the Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament proved to be the biggest in its 17 years of competition. A total of 50 local boats registered – the largest amount in the history of the tournament. International competition included 17 boats, some of which hailed from Trinidad, St. Vincent, Barbados and Grenada.
The tournament, in which the anglers took to the sea to prove their fishing supremacy, netted a whopping haul of 2,576.1 lbs of fish in just three days. The anglers were joined by the Minister of Sport, Hon Anil Roberts, who took part in the fishing fun.
The winners were announced on Sunday, March 18 at a special awards ceremony. Francois Mouttet and Louanna Lourie were declared Best Male and Female Anglers respectively, while John Michael Sabga took home the prize for Best Overall Junior Angler and Team Magic Lady won the Best Catch and Release Team award.
In the International Division, first place went to Team Magic Lady, second to Team Reel Xtreme, with Team Not Easy coming in third.
The Honourable Orville London, Chief Secretary, Tobago House of Assembly joins Team Ms. P, winners of the Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament - Local Division, for a celebration in front of their brand-new Digicel-sponsored pirogue.
