Digicel rising stars contestants change styles and excite audience

September 26th 2007 - Digicel rising stars contestants change styles and excite audience

Digicel Rising Stars, the most widely watched reality television series in the Caribbean, which discovers and develops local talent, continues to excite audiences around Trinidad & Tobago with top class entertainment.

The competition has heated up even further as the talent, temperament and guts of the contestants get further tested in front of a live audience.

In the last exciting episode viewers saw the emotional elimination of two of the favorites from the competition leaving the super six to perform for the large studio audience. They literally put their all in to their performances of Soca tunes with a few having to step out of their comfort zone to deliver. Performers like Justin Cross and Shawn Johnson who would normally sing reggae and R&B respectively took up the challenge and did not disappoint the audience.

The other performers also had the crowd eating out of their hands as they belted out their Soca tunes making way for what may be a close vote. Fans have until Saturday to text the word v-o-t-e to the number that corresponds to their favorite performer. The next episode will reveal who was able to impress the viewing voters as one more person will be eliminated.

Digicel Marketing Director Sacha Thompson says, I was really saddened to see these two performers voted off but I must say that the overall performances have been improving drastically as competitors pull out all the stops to not only impress the judges but also the large live audiences we have been seeing over the last few episodes.

The first place winner will walk away with a hefty $100,000 and a booking contract, second place is a cool $60,000 and third place is valued at $40,000. This package of prizes amounts to a whopping $200,000 package.

The fans themselves are also voting to win since every time they vote they stand a chance of winning one of three weekly prizes, consisting of a Sony Ericsson w 810i handset, a KFC lime for four, and $200 Digicel top up card.

So the Digicel Rising Stars is indeed an all inclusive reality show experience which does not leave out the hard working judges, who are the fans from winning a prize.

Speaking of the judges, Renee Castle, Johnny Gonzales and Michael Salickram continue to hold down the fort as the in house critics of the performances viewed weekly. While they do not have a say with regards to who stays and who goes, they do not hold back in giving their opinion on the performances they see every week.

This weekend you can tune in to see who will be eliminated next as the televised studio show airs Sunday at 7.30pm on C with repeats on Monday at 10AM, Wednesday at 9:30PM, Friday at 4:30PM and Saturday at 10AM. The 2007 Digicel Rising Stars can also be viewed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10PM and Saturday at 9:30AM.
