DIGICEL FOUNDATION STREET FEEDING CONTINUES

December 1st 2011 - DIGICEL FOUNDATION STREET FEEDING CONTINUES

There were smiles and outstretched hands from the less fortunate when the enthusiastic volunteers from the Digicel Foundation took to the streets of Port of Spain on Thursday, November 17, handing out hot tasty meals and drinks to the homeless people of the City.

As part of the company’s ongoing drive to uplift the community, the Digicel Foundation donated thousands of dollars worth of food stuff to the Salvation Army, on Duncan Street to assist in feeding the needy.

The distribution of food and drinks were also well received at the Oasis -The Drop-in Center where the homeless and disadvantaged gathered. Meanwhile, at the St. Vincent de Paul Halfway House further down the street – there were lots of “Thank you, Digicel” and wide smiles of appreciation from the residents, as the Digicel Foundation volunteers continued the delivery of the meals, prepared by the lovely ladies at the Salvation Army. Many queued patiently on the streets waiting to receive a meal.

Major Sinous Theodore – Divisional Commander for the Salvation Army - Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent and Grenada said “We wish to give our deepest thanks to Digicel for this initiative.” He added “It is very good that Digicel is giving back to the community and that they have chosen the Salvation Army as a means of doing so.”

Earlier on this year Digicel partnered with the Salvation Army when they outfitted the organisation’s Disaster Kitchen.
